About Me.

Hi! I’m Kris, a Charlotte, NC based visual storyteller with a camera in hand and something always different in mind. I don’t shoot for perfection. I shoot for truth. For movement. For the in-between moments that make people pause and feel something. My work lives in the space between structure and spontaneity—raw, real, and a little unruly.

I started this journey with nothing but a secondhand camera and a restless urge to create something different. Over time, I realized I wasn’t here to follow the rules—I was here to rewrite them. I bring an unfiltered eye and a distinct voice to every frame, blending shadows, angles, and chaos into visual narratives that speak louder than words.

The name Unorthodox Wave is the mentality that life shouldn’t follow this cookie cutter template. We're not here to color inside the lines or pose for picture-perfect moments that lack soul (although we can do that too). To me, being unorthodox means questioning the script, bending the rules, and creating space for stories that don’t fit into a neat, curated box.

It’s about embracing the raw, the real, the beautifully flawed. It’s about capturing people in their truest form—offbeat, unpredictable, and unapologetically themselves. I don’t shoot for symmetry or trend. I shoot for emotion, nonconformity, and whatever’s honest in the moment.

Unorthodox Wave is a reminder: you don’t have to look like anyone else’s version of success, love, or identity. You just have to show up as you are—and I’ll be there to frame that truth through life’s greatest tool, which people call a camera.
